Above the clouds
(More from Auto Road Photo Gallery)We've been fortunate to have several days like this in the past couple of weeks where we break out of the valley fog and into dramatic undercast conditions. Typically these conditions arise in the morning when there is a temperature inversion and the cool moist valley air hangs in the low lands until the sun warms it causing it to rise and obscure the mountain or simply dissipate. Note that this shot was taken from Mt Adams so you can see the Auto Road rising out of the fog on Chandler Ridge. Photo by Doug Mayer.
